Summer Camp Music Festival is finally here! Starting this weekend, Friday, May 24, till Sunday, May 26 and the pre-party starting this Thursday, May 23.

EEEEK!

If you’re as excited as I am, you probably know that the daily lineups are now out, as well as the scheduled set times.

If you haven’t seen them, you’re in for a treat!

Let’s take a walk through the days and see which days are genre heavy, activities and workshops, and certain sets you don’t want to miss.

Thursday:

The festival kicks off with Thursday’s pre-party at 1PM. It starts off at two of the lower-key stages, the Soulshine Tent and the Campfire Stage; none of the big stages open up until 3:30PM.

Big names you will catch on the first night include Eoto, Umphrey’s Mcgee, and an STS9: Axe the cables set; a special set that the band puts on where they literally axe the cables. All the music is acoustic, from piano to guitar, chelo to drums, every sound is authentic and naked. This set is a must see.

This day is a good mix of things, but I would say predominantly jam bands and electro-soul. Music goes until 4AM, with Artifakts (a personal favorite) closing out at the Starshine Stage.

Friday:

The rest of the weekend, starting Friday, SCAMP is offering two morning workshops: Om On the River Yoga, and Stepping Into the Hoop – both active workshops for morning people (or those who’ve stayed up really REALLY late)

Friday names you definitely can’t miss are Moe, Zeds Dead, Maddy O’Neal, D-Webb, and Flux Pavillion. Umphrey’s Mcgee and Moe are the two residents at this festival, so they are there every year and have multiple sets. Make sure to catch both of them at least once, for they are the catalysts!

I would say Friday is a more bass heavy, with electric-soul laced in through names like, Maddy O’Neal and Exmag. Luckily, SCAMP is a Jam-Band based festival, so you’re going to get some every day no matter what.

Saturday:

Saturday is freakin’ packed.

On top of the morning workshops, there is a Field Day going on where winners get a party courtesy of Lagunitas Brewing Co and Manolo’s Pizza & Empanadas (Official) and their team will be inscribed on the #SCampCup trophy!

Games include tug-o-war, capture the flag, dodge ball, a donut eating contest, big butt competition, giant twister, and so much more. Registration is still open through their Facebook!

Music on Saturday is the most diverse, ranging from brass bands to jam bands, riddim to melodic dubstep, and OG funk to electro soul. Names you must see include Statik, Big Gigantic, Space Jesus, and Manic Focus.

Sunday:

They really did save their best for last.

With this being the final day of the fest, names like Slumberjack, Break Science, Russ Liquid, Eprom, SoDown, Squnto, Gramatik and Sunsquabi will ultimately be putting on their best show.

This is also the last day for workshops, vendor purchases, and to explore the festival grounds!!

With a magical forest, mini stages, pop up sets, and amazing energy; there are many things to keep you on your toes at Summer Camp.

I am over the moon excited to see what this festival is all about! Are you going to be there? Comment Below!

All the love,
Katy

Mamby on the Beach: $79-$149

Mamby on the Beach is a festival located in Chicago, Illinois at the famous Oak Wood Beach. Usually taking place at the end of June (2019 official dates aren’t released yet), this is a fun festival for all ages. With a sandy beach, laidback vibes, and a beautiful Chicago skyline you can’t really go wrong!

Acts like Duke Dumont, Russ, Jai Wolf, Whethan, and Statik took the stage last year. They try to aim for a more versatile lineup, crossing between EDM, alternative, & rap. Awesome amenities include a ferris wheel, sand volleyball, silent disco, vendors, and free water! There are also shuttles that go to a select few hotels, but the festival is really easily accessible by Chicago’s public transit, CTA. With single day passes & full weekend passes available, this is a festival you’ll definitely want to catch.

Summer Camp Music Festival: $69-$250

If you’re looking to get away from the bustle of city life, Summer Camp Music Festival kicks off May 24th, 25th, & 26th in Chillicothe, Illinois. There are single day passes & full weekend passes available, camping spots, and check out that lineup…

…for reals?! Stacked! If you’re a fan of jam & strings you’ll especially dig this festival but, there’s a lot of electric soul, groovy dub, and funkadelic rock sprinkled in there too. One thing I really like about this festival is their sustainability. From biodiesel generators, local business support, to volunteers hand sorting through the festivals waste to decide if it’s compost, recyclable or landfill, this festival truly cares about the footprint they leave. That alone is worth supporting, not to mention the lineup!

Skyefall Music Festival: $100-$150

Dresser is a town of 859 people in northern Wisconsin that’s consented to housing a music festival. Skyefall will take place at Trollrodgen Outdoor Recreation Area on July 5th & 6th of this year.

You can either buy a GA, premium, or VIP backstage pass, and each ticket that gets sold has proceeds that go to wounded warriors family support. The lineup isn’t released yet, but there has been confirmed leaks of Styles&Complete, Kasum, Joe Maz, and Chris Schambacher. There will be car-side camping, a zipline park, free water, charging stations, and much more. Stay tuned on the website to see what this low-key festival is stewing up.

Lollapalooza is one of the most known music festivals in the world, with dates planned for 2016 in Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and of course, Chicago. The festival was founded in 1991 by Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction, and has been a much-anticipated part of every Chicagoan’s summer since its 2005 debut in Grant Park.

Lollapalooza 2016 will mark the festival’s 25th anniversary, and as Farrell himself has stated on the official website, “we wanted to do something really special and different for our fans.”

So you better get your vacation time scheduled in advance, because Thursday has officially been added to next year’s Lolla schedule! A whole extra day of music and fun sounds like a great time, don’t you think?

The Lollapalooza website boasts more than 170 performances over the four-day festival, held Thursday, July 28th through Sunday, July 31st 2016.

Four-day passes will cost $335, and single-day tickets will cost $120, with ticket sales beginning in Spring 2016.

More information on the 2016 festival can be found at www.lollapalooza.com. Are you looking forward to an extra day of music? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

There are less that ten days left until Chicago’s fourth annual Spring Awakening Music Festival! While you’re waiting, check out these 5 reasons why we’re totally hyped for SAMF 2015:

1) Soldier Field is an amazing venue

Soldier Field
Source: www.cz-studio.com

Commissioned in 1919, the stadium’s grand opening was held on October 6th, 1924. It was originally named the Grant Park Municipal Stadium, but was re-named Soldier Field a year following its opening to support Chicago’s Gold Star Mothers (the American Gold Star Mothers Club provides support for families whose children died in service). The stadium can hold 61,500 people, and is home to the Chicago Bears, making it the oldest NFL stadium in the nation. Aside from sports, Soldier Field is also a popular concert venue, with performances by artists ranging from U2 to Taylor Swift to Kenny Chesney – and Spring Awakening has been held there since 2012! The stadium has also hosted stock car races, fireworks displays, rodeos, circuses, open-air operas, and marching band concerts over the years.

2) Branded Stages: Trance Arena, Bass Kitchen, and Beatport

This year SAMF will be featuring a different branded stage each day of the festival! Friday’s Trance Arena stage will be headlined by Grammy-nominated German artist, producer, and DJ Paul Van Dyk, along with Cosmic Gate, Andrew Rayel, MS54, and Ilan Bluestone. On Saturday, the Bass Kitchen stage will host British DJ and producer Zomboy, Bro Safari, Brillz, Figure, and Grandtheft as headliners. And make sure to check out the Beatport stage Sunday, with headliners such as Hot Creations founder Jamie Jones, MK, Cajmere, Justin Martin, and Derrick Carter. Check out the full lineup and create a custom schedule!

3) What’s more fun than a silent disco?

A crowd favorite, the Silent Disco returns to SAMF 2015! This is the perfect opportunity to don some headphones, make new friends, and get crazy on the dance floor. There’s a beat for everyone, with over 15 different DJ sets to jam to throughout the weekend. Take a look at the silent disco lineup and get ready to dance!

4) The fashion scene is out of this world

Like fans of any other music festival, SAMF attendees love to get creative with their festival outfits! News outlets such as RedEye Chicago and the Huffington Post have covered Spring Awakening fashion in previous years, with photo sets featuring the best and most outrageous outfits of the weekend. Aside from the festival fashion staples (short shorts and bandanas, anyone?), there have been some notable trends during the past few years. Flower crowns and animal hats were popular accessories for SAMF 2013 , while SAMF 2014 brought a retro vibe, with neon colors making a major comeback. We can’t wait to see which fun trends will dominate Spring Awakening 2015!!

5) Good vibes all around

One of the best things about SAMF each year is the atmosphere. For many festival goers, Spring Awakening is a weekend of freedom. For three days, everyone is welcome and free to be themselves in a community of like-minded people. So wear a crazy, ridiculous outfit. Make friends with strangers. Scream until your voice is hoarse. Dance like nobody’s watching. Party into the night with your favorite artists. Live in the moment. Let’s get pumped for SAMF 2015!!
