In an eight minute YouTube video titled “Epilogue” Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem are seen in their usual, concealed, robot getup walking in a deserted desert. Both are seen wearing their iconic helmets along with matching jackets.

They walk right up to each, and after a few short moments, one of them turns around and reveals an energy pack hidden under their jacket. On the energy pack there is a button, which the other member clicks. The one with the energy pack then walk away and explodes. It then swiftly cuts to a sunset view as their song “Touch” plays till it fades black.

Kathryn Frazier, the duo’s publicist, confirmed the break up to several new sources such as Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and The Associated Press. When asked for a reason for the breakup Frazier provided no further explanation nor touched on the fact if the two will continue on with their own projects.

It is sad to see such an iconic duo call it quits, but the art they created will always be there.

Tron: Legacy‘s soundtrack received an award for Best Original Score.

• Random Access Memories received Grammys for both Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronica Album.

As a featured artist, Daft Punk received two awards for best song and best video with The Weeknd’s “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming.”
