Here Are Five Awesome Artist Covers to Check Out

If you’re looking for some new music to check out this weekend, here are five amazing covers that some incredible artists have done!

  1. Wallows “With A Little Help From My Friends”

Wallows, the alternative band front-lined by the “13 Reasons Why” actor, Dylan Minnette, released this iconic Beatles cover on May 22. This cover does what any Beatles fan appreciates, by sticking pretty closely to the original, and doesn’t get too unique or creative in the cover. If you’re a Beatles super-fan like myself, this one won’t disappoint.

  1. Mountain Man “Slow Burn”

Mountain Man is a folk trio, which Amelia Meath of the electro-pop duo, Sylvan Esso, is also a member of. In this cover, the trio performs country singer Kacey Mugraves’ “Slow Burn,” in a slowed-down, folk style. If you’re looking to hear some beautiful harmonies, this is the cover for you.

  1. Kali Uchis “I Heard Love Is Blind”

In this old YouTube video of alternative R&B singer, Kali Uchis, she sings the jazzy Amy Winehouse song, “I Heard Love Is Blind,” A cappella to her computer’s photo booth app. This video really showcases Uchis’s unique vocal tone. Uchis also performed an Amy Winehouse song alongside fellow R&B singer, Jorja Smith, on their combined tour last summer.
  1. Lorde “Don’t Tell ‘Em”

In this BBC Radio 1 cover, Lorde repurposes R&B singer Jeremih’s song, “Don’t Tell ‘Em.” As usual, the alternative singer-songwriter made the song completely unique in her own style. The singer-songwriter from New Zealand also sent an email to fans a couple of weeks ago, alluding to a new album that has her listeners more excited than ever to hear what’s new from Lorde.

  1. Clairo “Alone & Unafraid”

In yet another BBC Radio 1 cover, indie/alt singer-songwriter, Clairo, covers “Alone & Unafraid,” by British singer-songwriter, Eliza. By setting this R&B/soul song to the piano, the viewer gets a better listen to Clairo’s incredible vocals.
