Griselda Comeback Story

Westside Gunn, the head of Griselda records, took to the internet recently to share that he had tested positive for COVID-19. He shared in a tweet that he had been in quarantine, and unable to see his children as a result. The rapper describes having a religious moment of clarity that ultimately led him to focusing on his craft and the release of his new album.

Westside Gunn released his album Pray For Paris on April 17. The title is a dedication to time he spent in Paris recording music and attending Fashion week. This is Westside Gunn’s third solo studio album and it’s a major testament to his growth as an artist.

As is expected with a Griselda album, this project includes a roster of talented wordsmiths like Freddie Gibbs, Joey Badass, Benny The Butcher, Wale, Conway The Machine, and more! They all provide some very potent and memorable verses which compliment the charismatic flow of Westside Gunn. Even though he provides his own memorable performance throughout.

The only thing as important as this elite lyrical display on the album is the production. The production value is clearly at all time high on this project, which is made evident by the presence of producers like Tyler, the Creator, Dj Premier, The Alchemist, Daringer and more. Each of these producers provide their own style which allows for a variety of sound throughout the album. Pray For Paris provides an old school rap vibe with a new school approach.

This album is the perfect combination of the new and old schools of hip-hop, give it a listen while you’re staying in and staying safe!
