Homesafe Giving Hope

With the world pretty much limited to being stuck inside, a lot of people are turning to music. The Chicago based pop-punk band Homesafe released an EP this past week called What’s Mine Is Yours, with two acoustic songs named “Slide” and “Down.” Fans were pleasantly surprised by this drop.

The first song on the EP, “Slide,” the song opens with the lead singer Ryan Rumchaks pulling listeners in with his catchy, meaningful lyrics:

“Can’t start losing sight of what I’ve made mine
With a trick of the light, the sun weighs down on me”

This strong opening comforts those who may feel stuck, especially during these hard times. The song continues with:

“But it seems I’m wasting time, only 24, there’s so much more
I can’t let myself slide”

This song is a perfect reminder that during hard times, when things seem gloomy, you can always take hold of yourself and ground yourself.

The second song on the EP, “Down,” immediately opens with some heartfelt lyrics:

“Somewhere I fear my days have gone
You’re there sharing the thoughts I’m dwelling on
Take care until the moment we meet again
Wait for me now”

With times like these, it is important to remind yourself that everyone else is in the same situation but it is important to look towards the future.

The song flows into a chorus:

“I can feel you when you’re down
Even though I’m not around
I can feel you on your worst days
Stuck in place now
I can feel you when you’re down”

The song brings a nice feeling, despite the slightly melancholy lyrics. Even when it feels like nobody notices, someone does and they will be there for you.

Though these songs are clearly deeper than the state of the world right now, this acoustic EP came out at the perfect time to send reminders to fans that it’s going to be okay.

Go listen to the EP and see what feelings these beautiful acoustic songs make you feel!
