Detriot 2

On September 4th, Big Sean released his newest album, Detroit 2. Big Sean hasn’t dropped an album since his 2017 collaboration-album, Double or Nothing, with super-producer Metro Boomin. Big Sean has been one of my favorite rappers for a minute. I think he is extremely talented but needs to put more music out. I’m excited for this project because the Detroit mixtape was arguably his best project. It feels good to see that he is continuing that as a series and trying to capture a certain level of success with this new album.

Sean is a Detriot native and the album is filled with nuggets of wisdom about both his city and the state of the world right now. It sounds sort of like a motivational speech at times because he is definitely delivering messages on these songs. The album is filled with advice and questions about the future. He even addresses rumors about his own life.

The album features Jhene Aiko, Tee Grizzley, Kash Doll, Post Malone, the late Nipsey Hussle, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Diddy, and more! It is available on Apple Music and Spotify.

  1. The first “Detroit” was dope. “Detroit 2” had some really good skits! It’s nice to see Big Sean have skits like artist from “back in the day.” You can tell that he is truly a student of hip-hop….. I really need another Twenty88 album!
