Madison Beer Opens Up About Heartbreak In Her Single, “Reckless”

Madison Beer is back after releasing her debut studio album, Life Support.

“Reckless was written about how easy it is for some people in relationships to hurt others and move on without any guilt. People have so much power over their partner’s feelings, yet many still choose to treat each other carelessly. I believe there is a balance to putting ourselves and our feelings first, while knowing we have the responsibility of treating people with respect, kindness, and consideration. It’s so important to find that balance in every relationship and knowing when to move on if you can’t.”

Madison Beer spoke in a press release about her new single, “Reckless.”

This time around she’s back with a soft ballad about the heartbreaks of reckless, youthful love. Beer told her followers on Twitter that the song is about following one’s intuition. She further explained in a press release that the song is also about the harms that are caused by one’s careless actions.

The lyrics pretty much spell out the common heartbreak and disappointment that happens between some young couples. “This is a story I hate/And tellin’ it might make me break/But I’ll tell it anyway/This chapter’s about/How you said there was nobody else/Then you got up and went to her house/ Each day goes by and each night, I cry/Somebody saw you with her last night/You gave me your word, ‘Don’t worry ’bout her’/You might love her now, but you loved me first.”

Despite the simplicity of the song, there is sincerity and heartbreak. To top it all off, Beer’s voice is stunningly fragile and airy. The song starts off with the sounds of a music box, a sign of naivety and youth. The song then spans out to a pop, piano-based ballad. It’s a great follow-up after her major debut, and it’s nice to see Beer get the last laugh after that heartbreak.
