Review: Qveen Herby’s “A Woman”

Qveen Herby is fun, witty, and carefree.

Qveen Herby released her debut album after releasing a slew of EPs for the last two years. The EPs all explored the various sounds of Qveen Herby, but “A Woman” demonstrates that Qveen Herby can carry herself. She had no features on the album and also wrote or co-wrote every song on the album.

Qveen Herby is a multitude of genres. She tends to mostly explores rap, soul, and pop, but she touches on a little of everything. Her strong points are definitely her singing voice, more so than her flow, but don’t let that discourage you from giving her a listener. Both styles are enjoyable regardless. A good chunk of the album is empowering, up-tempo music about her successes and self-motivation, but there are also glimmers of vulnerability and the acknowledgment she is an underdog in the greater scheme of it all. Overall, the album is an excellent start for Qveen Herby.

“Discover what it is that you want and f**king go for it. There are a lot of themes in there because of course my story is very unique, there are a lot of different aspects to it. I have a lot of creative fans and they have so much potential, so I really did make this for them.”

Qveen Herby when asked What do you take from this album as a whole when you listen to it all the way through?
