Trouble at QC

Quality Control Records is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, record labels right now. Based out of Atlanta, record heads, Kevin ‘Coach K’ Lee and Pierre ‘Pee’ Thomas have managed to grab almost every artist out of Atlanta in the last few years. They have a stranglehold on the music game with artists like the Migos, Lil Yachty, Lil Baby, The City Girls, Duke Deuce, and others. You could even say they have helped engineer the sound that is popular throughout Hip-Hop and Rap now.

The record label has been kind of a ray of hope in the hip-hop business. They have appeared to have great, family-like relationships with their acts, given that they are all from the same areas. They are a black-owned record label that seems to have been having nothing but success until recently.

The Migos are currently pursuing a lawsuit against their former lawyer Damien Granderson. According to Variety, The Migos are accusing him of stealing millions of dollars from them and favoring QC records in business deals. They are basically saying that the lawyer was working for the label instead of them. This is the ugly side of the music business. There have been rumblings on social media about the Migos leaving QC as a result of this issue.

This is disappointing because Quality Control records is set to be one of the biggest record labels in history and a lot of that is due to the success of the Migos. The Migos were QC’s first superstar level act. They drew attention to the label and made it seem appealing to Atlanta artists like Lil Yachty and Lil Baby. It would be a shame if this dispute puts a strain on that legacy.
