Spring Awakening Minimum Age Limit Now 18

Along with other announcements, Spring Awakening Music Festival which takes place at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL has just announced a minimum age requirement of 18. In an email, they said:

In 2015 and moving forward, only those who are 18 years and older will be permitted into Spring Awakening Music Festival. Our number one priority is the safety of our fans, the artists, and staff. SAMF truly appreciates the support from our younger fans, but with the size of the event and feedback from the fans over the past two years, we’ve decided that the festival is an experience for adults. This decision was made to promote safety amongst our fans and ensure the best experience for our attendees and future attendees. We encourage everyone to attend the festival when they reach the appropriate age.

After previous years, many festival goers request the minimum age limit to be raised to 21, however due to the young demographics of Spring Awakening, this would not be feasible and would result in reduced ticket sales.

Personally, I’m very glad they have imposed a minimum age requirement. I have been the past two years, and I have seen too many underage teens under the influence of alcohol and drugs, which can be very detrimental to both themselves and the people around them. With these changes, I predict a drastic decrease in arrests and drug/alcohol related injuries.

What do you think about this new minimum age requirement? Let us know in the comments below!
