5 Music Podcast Recommendations

Amid the craziness that is still COVID-19, it is very easy to get bored with our situation so here are some music podcasts to help stall those boring moments.

1. Song Exploder

Song Exploder is a sweet backstage look into the works of every individual song covered by the host Hrishikesh Hirway. The artist of each song goes into depth, step by step on the production and writing of the songs covered. Each episode ranges between 15 minutes to a maximum of 30.

Since the spooky season is slowly approaching us, I recommend listening to John Carpenter speak on how he composed the famous Halloween theme.

You can listen to Song Exploder here.

2. Hit Parade

Hit Parade is a musical escape. This is a highly recommended podcast if you are open to learning about music history and cultural trends. Host Chris Molanphy is witty, well-informed, and goes into great detail on the history of each song and era he explores.

Listen to Hit Parade here. Recommendation: “Christmas Is All Around Edition.”

3. Your Favorite Band Sucks

With the name “Your Favorite Band Sucks,” you can only imagine how these two guys can come off, but no worries! They are hilarious, smart, and expand on their reasoning on why they hate your favorite band. Although they might offend you for attacking your favorite group, and possibly make you question your music taste, I still recommend giving them a listen here.

Recommendation: Destiny’s Child Sucks

4. Song VS Song

Hosts Todd Nathanson and Dany Roth debate over what song triumphs over the other. Very funny to listen to these two’s dynamic as they dissect the duo of the week.

Listen to Song VS Song here.

Recommendation: “Happy VS Can’t Stop The Feeling.”

5. The Throwback Podcast

There is a clear passion from hosts Dan Hanzus and Bob Castrone as they reminiscence and discuss several albums they love, song by song.

Just a small note, but they are frequent ramblers with an explicit vocabulary so be aware of that!

Listen to The Throwback Podcast here.

Recommendation: Justin Timberlake – FutureSex/LoveSound
