Bleak Soul Announces Debut Album With a Single

This week, the former As It Is band member, Ben Biss announced his new solo project under the name Bleak Soul. With a debut record, ‘existential meditation,’ coming out TOMORROW (May 22nd), the album will consist of 8 tracks.

To give fans a little taste of what the album will sound like, Ben released a song entitled “Why Am I Here?” With a mellow vibe and calming vocals, the song showcases not only Ben’s musical talents but his songwriting talents as well.

The song opens up with a powerful set of lyrics, “I fell out of love with this excuse for life. It once offered promise before you reach the light. So I cut off my ear and I went blind. I can’t seem to do anything right. Why am I here?”

The song continues with an extremely deep cut line, “Do I fear the fear or do I just fear feeling?” This line may extend a hand to other fans who have felt similar in their lives, giving them comfort.

The single is 3 and a half minutes long with minimal lyrics, giving fans the chance to focus on the lyrics but also the musical aspect behind the song. If this song is any indicator of how ‘existential meditation’ sounds, fans are in for a great surprise.

If you’re into mellow music with deep lyrics, go listen to “Why Am I Here?” and check out ‘existential meditation’ by bleak soul out on May 22nd!
