Fans Bid Florida’s Okeechobee Festival Farewell

The Okeechobee team announced in a letter on Thursday afternoon that there will be no festival in 2019.

The announcements confirms many rumors predicting the end of the beloved Florida festival that had been swirling around social media all year.

Okeechobee had been an annual event in Sunshine Grove, Florida for the past three years. The four-day fest was praised by attendees as a “mini-Bonnaroo.”

The culture around Okeechobee was one of love, diversity, and community. The heartfelt letter ends on an encouraging note, saying “…we’re looking to March 2020, and we can’t wait to see you again.”

Okeechobee headliners have included artists from The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, and Kings of Leon, to Snoop Dogg, Usher, and The Roots.

In an age when big-time music festivals are more and more difficult to maintain, the Okeechobee community will remember their festival fondly, looking forward to 2019.

Following the cancellation announcement, the Okeechobee team posted this video highlighting last year’s festival.
