Live Nation Amends Refund Policy

There have been several cancellations of sporting events, concerts, and festivals with no clear date of when the events have been postponed. This has led to Live Nation being under fire for not giving out refunds to their customers.

Previous Response:

Prior, in an earlier announcement, Live Nation set up a 30-day window for refunds when a postponed show was given a new date. This policy did not help those who were left without a rescheduled date. It left plenty of customers in limbo, without their money, no event to attend, and quite reasonably angry.

After some backlash, Live Nation finally amended their wrongs and came up with a more inclusive plan that addresses those who were previously left out of the last refund program. Chief Executive, Michael Rapino addressed these concerns on Friday, April 24, and tweeted out the linked new policy.

The New Refund Policies:

Rescheduled shows will automatically be valid for the new date. That is unless the customers opt for a refund within 30 days of the new show date being announced. Notification emails will be sent out to all ticket holders starting May 1.

The new policy also states that “If you have tickets to a show that is postponed, you will be able to select your refund option once the new date is announced. If 60 days have passed since a show was postponed and no rescheduled dates have been announced, the 30-day window for refunds will open at that time.” This is the key change that will hopefully settle out some of the previous backlashes.

Track the status of your shows, concerts, and festivals here. It will let you know if it’s been rescheduled, canceled, or if the show is still going on.

The newest and most stand out policy is the “Hero Nation” program. If you have tickets to a show at a Live Nation venue that gets canceled, you can now choose to receive a credit for 150 percent of your purchase.

“If you have tickets to a show at a Live Nation venue that gets canceled, you can choose to receive a credit for 150% of your purchase (including fees). So if you spent $200 on tickets, you will receive $300 in credit! When you choose this option, Live Nation will also donate tickets to healthcare workers to share the gift of life with those working on the front line through our Hero Nation program. We will donate 1 ticket for every ticket you originally purchased. All ticket holders will receive emails with their options beginning May 1. This offer is not valid for special events, third party rentals, or festivals.”
