Check out These Four Badass Female Singers’ New Singles

Within the last few days, four badass female musicians have released new singles. Check them out here!

1. Doja Cat- “Boss Bitch” for the new movie, “Birds of Prey”

This Doja Cat single, which dropped on January 23, has the classic rap lyricism Doja is known for, mixed with a fun dance-y beat. It’s the type of song you want to pregame to during a night out or something you’d die to see the queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race lip sync for their lives to. The music video is half recycled fight scenes from “Birds of Prey” mixed with a few cool shots of Doja Cat looking like the Boss Bitch she is.

2. Mitski- “Cop Car” for the new movie “The Turning”

Mitski has a certain darkness to her in this song, released January 21, that definitely matches the vibe of the thriller movie that this single was created for. The song itself has an almost Nirvana-esque hard rock vibe to it, with an eeriness to the instrumentals that is totally unique and haunting.

3. Hayley Williams- “Simmer”

This long-awaited single from the lead singer of Paramore, everyone’s favorite middle school pop-punk throwback band, came after Hayley Williams teased fans in late December 2019 about an upcoming solo album. This single showcases Williams’ punk origins in her lyrics and vocal quality, but the chorus of the song is super catchy, whether you’re a Paramore fan or not! The music video, which features nightmare-like scenes of Williams being chased naked through the woods totally matches the dark mood of the song.

4. Rico Nasty- “IDGAF”

This single from Rico Nasty came unexpectedly to YouTube and Soundcloud on January 21. It’s a much more low-key, slow beat compared to some of Rico Nasty’s other recent singles like “Hard,” which came out in early December 2019. The lyrics and the title of the song still display Rico’s careless and fun attitude.

Whether you prefer the dark alternative sounds of Hayley Williams and Mitski, or the dance-y rap singles by Doja Cat and Rico Nasty, you can’t go wrong by exploring any of these four talented musicians’ works.
