Wrap up of the Week

This past week has been hectic with Megan Thee Stallion publicly going head to head with 1501 Certified Entertainment, the coronavirus scare leading to several concerts and festivals being canceled, and to Post Malone having to address concerns about his well-being. With those major topics taking in the big headlines, we missed several others in the pile.

Flavor Flav gets the boot.

Some tension grew between Flavor Flav, the fans, and Chuck D when it was revealed that Flavor Flav was no longer part of Public Enemy. The speculation, which arose due to a Tweet sent out by Flavor Flav, was that Chuck D had kicked Flavor Flav out for not endorsing Bernie Sanders.

Flavor Flav wrote one Twitter, “@MrChuckD are you kidding me right now???,,,over Bernie Sanders??? You wanna destroy something we’ve built over 35 years OVER POLITICS???,,,all because I don’t wanna endorse a candidate,,,I’m very disappointed in you and your decisions right now Chuck,,.”

Flavor Flav continued to clear his name of drug allegations and stated that this is an issue about “misleading marketing” and not something that should be used against him. He ended his twitter thread with “I’m not your employee … I’m your partner … you can’t fire me … there is no Public Enemy without Flavor Flav … so let’s get it right Chuck,.”

Chuck D made an official statement, along with several tweets that said this was not due to political difference but, instead insisted it was a lack of professionalism on Flavor Flav’s behalf. Chuck D revealed that Flavor Flav was on suspension since 2016 for not attending several live events.

“Flavor Flav has been on suspension since 2016 when he was MIA from the Harry Belafonte benefit in Atlanta, Georgia. That was the last straw for the group. He had previously missed numerous live gigs from Glastonbury to Canada, album recording sessions, and photo shoots. He always chose to party over work.”

Dixie Chicks reunites after years of being shunned.

Dixie Chicks released a new song after a fourteen-year hiatus, and despite being a part of the country genre, they do not feel welcomed by their former listeners.

The Dixie Chicks return.

While speaking to Allure, lead singer Natalie Maines spoke on behalf of all three women when she declared they do not feel accepted by the “country music world” after they spoke against George W. Bush back in 2003. They felt the brunt of the fans and were shunned for years.

In the interview, Maines stated that she’d much prefer her kids like her than to have a number one single. So it seems that the Dixie Chicks still have that same resilience that got them in trouble.

DaBaby finds himself in controversy.

DaBaby is in hot water again. He was recently filmed slapping a female fan in the face. DaBaby was immediately booed and heckled until he left the club with his entourage. He later got on Instagram and offered $10,000 to his followers if anyone had video evidence of the woman who “shot him in his eye.”

From what is seen in the video, it seems like she reached for a photo and accidentally smacked him on the face.

He was provided with the video and posted an image that stated he had every intention of suing but in the afternoon on March 8. DaBaby had a more positive attitude.

DaBaby did issue an apology on his Instagram story. “I’m very sorry that there was a female on the other end of that flashlight on their phone,” DaBaby continued, “But you know, keep in mind, I couldn’t see you because you got the flash this close to me. Which is OK, it’s no problem. … But fans—how many people know how to zoom in? Just zoom in instead of popping me in the motherfxxkin’ eye with the phone. But I do apologize that there was a female on the other end.”

He stated on his story that he would like to fly her out and personally apologize to her for his actions.
