Deftones recently updated all their social media to a black profile and people are speculating that this could mean a new album.
If you visit their official website it is also blacked out with the option to submit your email for any and all updates. The URL also recently became “deftones.com/0925,” which further hints the release of an album that could come out on September 25, which also happens to be a Friday.
Back in June, drummer Abe Cunningham loosely confirmed in an interview with Download TV that there would be a release of a new album in September. “We actually tracked everything last summer, June and July. We were sort of taking our time, but we actually just completed everything. We’re mixing.”
When asked if this newest release would resemble their earlier work Cunningham responded, “It’s all that. It’s always hard to describe it. I’ll say this… We can’t help but sound like ourselves, but just being back with Terry, there’s certain sounds that we developed with Terry that kind of became sort of our core sounds, and those are back again.”
Keep an eye out on Deftones’ website to see if the tease anything new in the upcoming days.
Till their new release, stay occupied and stream Deftones’ “White Pony.” It recently turned 20 years old in June, and it is arguably their most beloved album by fans.
